Clearly reflective of the number of private cars from 2011 to 2015 is the chart. The number of private cars rose notably from 58 million in 2011 to 124 million in 2015.
Significantly contributing to the phenomenon are the following reasons. In the first place,people"s income has increased rapidly in recent years. As the economy expanded, people's income rose accordingly, and thus cars have become more and more affordable for most families. In addition there is an increasing need for private cars as cities grow larger. In cities, especially big ones like Beijing and Shanghai, people usually live in the suburb where public transportation is inconvenient but work in the downtown areas, which means that they have to travel by car so that they can cover such along distance without fear of being late for work. Thus,it is predictable that there will be more and more private cars in the future. It is recommendable that our government build up more roads and facilities so as to satisfy the needs of increasing car owners.
